Turn On Rain and Ocean Sounds While You Work

How are you feeling over there? We’re riding through the peak of this flu season and Covid seems to be popping up around us once again. What’s our best ammo?

Unlike machines, we are built with this magical defense mechanism called the immune system. If we properly support it with healthy habits, rest, and good nutrition, it can knock down powerful foes just like Rocky.

Today is National Green Juice Day, so I thought I touch on the nutrition part a bit. Masticating juicers keep more of the nutrients and here is how. If you’re interested in buying one, here is a list of the 7 best masticating juicers. Omega masticating juicers are my favorite and I make magic happen with juicer number 2 listed on the website above. Now that you have the juicer figured out, you need things to juice. My favorite immune support recipe is kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon, and ginger. I call it the green punch! Turning all these goodies into juice is a stress reliving activity for me, but it’s a messy job. When I get my hands dirty, I make a few bottles using these.

The green juice recipe above has 9 ingredients that work together to help support your immune system. I recommend a very similar approach when it comes to cybersecurity. Think of each ingredient as a security layer. DNS filtering can help your computer avoid neighborhoods where bad bugs hang out, so you don’t have to get into a fight in the first place. Should you find yourself in a fight and the punches start flowing, your malware protection can block them. If you happen to take a punch in the nose, you may fall, but getting up can be easy and fast when you have proper backups.

As Henry Truman once said “Doing the right thing is easy. [It is] much more difficult [to…] figure out what [the right thing] is.”

See you next week,

Turn On Rain and Ocean Sounds While You Work

Working in an office or in the city, you’re probably inundated with noise from people chattering, cars running and nearby music. Your iPhone has a built-in feature called Background Sounds for playing rain noises or white noise to tune it all out. You don’t need to download any apps or pay a cent: it comes for free on your Mac and iPhone. This article will show you how it works.

National Storytelling Week starts January 30th

Rebecca Solnit wrote in her 2017 book The Mother of All Questions: “We are our stories, stories that can be both prison and the crowbar to break open the door of that prison… Liberation is always in part a storytelling process: breaking stories, breaking silences, making new stories. A free person tells her own story. A valued person lives in a society in which her story has a place”.

Like its name, National Storytelling Week encourages people of all ages, genders, and cultures to indulge in stories new and old and participate in this centuries-old form of connection. Story telling is important – it is how the human race has survived, evolved, and flourished – and it is the keystone to community and empathy. To celebrate, perhaps you could throw a story telling party for your friends? Though intimidating, the experience will be one you never forget. Alternatively, you could write your stories down, either casually or formally, or ask someone you love to share a story of theirs with you!

The Data Apple Collects About You & How to Limit It

Apple has positioned itself as a privacy-first company. It has butted heads with law enforcement for encrypting people’s phones, messages, and FaceTime calls, and battled Facebook over its creepy ad-tracking practices. But Apple’s business model is also shifting. Apple has always collected some data about its customers—as all businesses do—but its increasing push into services and advertising opens the door for more potential data collection. Read this article to learn more about the data Apple collects about you, and how to limit it.

Yodel For Your Neighbors Day is January 30th

Every year, Yodel For Your Neighbors Day day encourages people to try their hand at yodeling. It also motivates them to get to know people around them better by inviting them to yodel along. We can’t speak to how widely celebrated this holiday is, but we recommend checking out this yodeling tutorial for fun nonetheless!
